In celebration of Information Overload Awareness Day (no, I'm not making that up, click the link) smile Knowledge Workers Toronto, The Toronto Semantic Web Meetup Group, and Toronto Wiki Tuesdays are overloading you with information, and another opportunity to socialize and share information.

Our August event is a combined event for the three Meetup groups to share information and meet each other.

The format will be 6 presentations from 6 of our members (please contact either Stephanie Barnes, Martin Cleaver, Connie Crosby, or William Mougayar if you are interested in presenting***). Each presentation is limited to 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide, for a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds each, there will be Q & A after each presentation, to take us to the 10 minute mark, after that it's on to the next presenter.

The presentation should have something to do with Information Overload, e.g. examples of it, practices for dealing with it, tools or technology that cause it, tools or technology that help resolve it.

After we finish the presentations we hope to continue our discussions on the patio, weather permitting. smile

Hope to see you there! (and don't forget to let us know if you would like to present***) smile

We are registering all three groups through Eventbrite--

***If you would like to present please send us (Stephanie, Connie, Martin, or William) a paragraph about what you plan on presenting

I thought that most of the speakers tried to get too much information into too short a time (the second speaker, from the law firm, got it about right).
    • Head Blender, Blended Perspectives Inc.
Concise, knowledgeable, interesting speakers, and humorous as well. What more could an audience want? Seriously, my heartfelt thanks to all that made our evening a success.
    •  As usual, this was a thought expanding experience.
    •  Loved the format! Great presenters...takes guts to say it all in 20 seconds a slide. For next time, maybe raffle off the bottle of wine to an attendee instead of asking us to choose the best presentation. They were all valuable :)
    •  Good presentation methodology. I think 1 less person, would allow more Q&A overall.
    •  This was my first time at a knowledge workers event... Lots of people attended! There were 6 presentations in the Pecha Kucha style, with 20 slides that were timed at 20 seconds each - for a total of 6:40 - and leaving 3:20 for Q+A. I look forward to presenting at more events in the future.
    •  meaningless event i am a big fan of Martin, greatly respecting his business acumen, but the format misses the point in more ways than one.
    •  A light, fun event for the summer. Back to more serious talks in the fall.
    •  Great presentations and discussion, as usual!
